Sheraton Hamilton Hotel
A 19-storey tower on King Street West, linked indoors to TD Coliseum, the convention centre and Jackson Square

About this stay
Opened in August 1985, the Sheraton Hamilton is the hotel of downtown Hamilton's Jackson Square complex: 299 rooms over 19 storeys at 116 King Street West. Its main asset is what it connects to. TD Coliseum, the former FirstOntario Centre, reopened in November 2025 after a full rebuild and is again home to the Toronto Rock lacrosse team; the Hamilton Convention Centre and the Jackson Square shops are linked to the hotel too. The Art Gallery of Hamilton is across King Street.
Drivers get covered parking on site, with in-and-out privileges, for a fee and under a height limit. Dogs are accepted, with a pet fee; other pets are not. The hourly all-day Lakeshore West trains from Toronto end at West Harbour GO, about 1.5 km north, while the Hamilton GO Centre on Hunter Street sees only a few weekday rush-hour trains. Since 1995, peregrine falcons have nested on an 18th-floor ledge of the tower.

Our take
The Sheraton Hamilton is connected directly to TD Coliseum, which reopened in November 2025 after a full rebuild, and to the Hamilton Convention Centre: on a concert or Toronto Rock night you go from your room to your seat through the Jackson Square complex. Its 466 reviews average 8.5. The catch is for drivers: the covered garage charges a fee and has a height limit, so a tall van needs checking before arrival. I would book it for an arena show, a lacrosse game or a convention, or to turn a GO train trip from Toronto into an overnight. For a slow weekend of independent shops and cafés, I would look to Locke Street instead.
- ✓Look up in spring: peregrine falcons have nested on the tower's 18th-floor ledge since 1995, the first egg usually appears between late March and early April, and the Hamilton Community Peregrine Project runs live cameras.
- ✓Coming by GO train from Toronto outside weekday rush hour? Your train ends at West Harbour GO, about 1.5 km north of the hotel up James Street North, not at the Hamilton GO Centre on Hunter Street, which only gets a few peak-hour trains.
- ✓TD Coliseum reopened on 21 November 2025 as a concert arena of about 18,000 seats; from the hotel you reach it through the complex, which matters most on a January show night.
- ✓In winter, use the indoor route through Jackson Square for shops and food rather than walking King Street in the wind.
Why we love it
- Direct connections to TD Coliseum, the convention centre and Jackson Square
- The Art Gallery of Hamilton directly across King Street
- An indoor pool for winter evenings
- Peregrine falcons nesting on the tower since 1995
Why guests love itPeregrine falcons are the reason children remember this hotel. A pair nests on an 18th-floor ledge, eggs usually appear between late March and early April, and the Hamilton Community Peregrine Project streams the nest, so a spring stay comes with a live nature lesson above the street. The rest is practical: an indoor pool for the evening, an indoor link to the Jackson Square shops for lunch out of the cold, and arena shows within the same complex. What is missing is green space at the door, since the tower stands among offices and the mall. I would book it for a family weekend around a show or a game, but not for a trip built around hiking.
