Hyatt Place Vancouver/Metrotown occupies the 10-storey podium beside a 48-storey tower finished in late 2023, space first drawn up as offices before it became a 159-room hotel. That history shows in its strength: floor-to-ceiling windows and a front door on Beresford Street, a short walk from Metrotown SkyTrain. The Expo Line reaches Waterfront in about 20 minutes without a change. There is a 24/7 gym, but the hotel has no pool and no spa, and six reviews averaging 7.5 are too few to judge service. I would book it to see Vancouver by train from a Burnaby base; I would skip it for a resort stay or a sea view.

Why guests love itFor a family seeing Vancouver without a car, the address does most of the work. Metrotown SkyTrain is a short walk from the lobby, and the Expo Line runs to Waterfront, the stop for Canada Place and Gastown, in about 20 minutes with no change. Metropolis at Metrotown, the largest mall in British Columbia with around 330 stores and services, sits next door for a rainy afternoon. What children will miss is a pool: the hotel has none, so swimming means Central Park's outdoor pool in summer, one stop away at Patterson, where the playground and forest trails also are. Parking is paid and breakfast depends on the rate. I would pick it for a city-sightseeing week with school-age children, not for toddlers who need a pool to burn off energy.
