About this stay

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa replaced the old Rideau Carleton Casino & Raceway on Albion Road, and the hotel side opened on 3 July 2025. The 150 rooms are Deluxe King or Deluxe Queen, plus 22 Gold and Silver suites. Everything is built around the casino: the gaming floor is for those aged 19 and over, Hard Rock Live seats 1,800 people or holds about 2,200 standing, and the dining runs from Council Oak Steaks & Seafood and a Hard Rock Cafe to Brick'd, YOUYU and the Constant Grind café. The address is in the south end, near the airport, so Parliament Hill and the ByWard Market are a drive away rather than a walk.

Our take

Hard Rock Ottawa's 150 rooms opened on 3 July 2025 on the old Rideau Carleton Raceway site, so this is a new building where everything turns around the casino, the Hard Rock Live theatre and about ten bars and restaurants. Its 46 reviews average 8.8, an early but strong start. The gaming floor is for guests aged 19 and over, parking is free and dogs are accepted in certain rooms. The catch is the address: 4837 Albion Road is in the south end, so the Parliament, the ByWard Market and the Rideau Canal mean a drive each way. I would book it for a concert at Hard Rock Live or a casino night, and stay downtown for sightseeing.

  • ✓Check the Hard Rock Live calendar before choosing your dates: the theatre seats 1,800, and concert nights are when the 150 rooms go first.
  • ✓Bring photo ID even for dinner: the gaming floor and its bars are for those aged 19 and over, Ontario's gambling age.
  • ✓Travelling with a dog? The hotel accepts up to two dogs in certain rooms only, so ask for a pet room when booking rather than at the desk.
  • ✓Plan the car for sightseeing: from Albion Road in the south end, Parliament Hill and the ByWard Market are a drive, and parking at the hotel is free.

Why we love it

  • A show at Hard Rock Live, 1,800 seats, without leaving the building
  • Council Oak Steaks & Seafood and a Hard Rock Cafe on site
  • 22 Gold and Silver suites among the 150 rooms
  • Free parking in Ottawa's south end, close to the airport
Why guests love it

Hard Rock Ottawa is built for adults: the gaming floor and its bars are reserved for those aged 19 and over, and the evenings revolve around Hard Rock Live shows and late restaurants. Booking sites state that guests under 19 may only check in with a parent or guardian, so the rule is about the casino, not a ban on children in the rooms. Even so, there is no family programme, and I did not find a pool in the official descriptions. For a family visit to Ottawa, a downtown hotel near the Rideau Canal and the museums makes more sense. I would keep this one for a concert or an evening out without the children.
